SPC Weekender: The Secret Elixir That Makes AI Go
The "supply shortfall" that's supper bullish for copper ...
If Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a face, it’s chipmaker Nvidia Corp. NVDA 0.80%↑, with an 80% share of the entire global GPU semiconductor chip market (according to MoneyWeek).
But if you have “Nvidia fatigue,” there are plenty of other AI opportunities that run the gamut — from data center landlords to equipment makers to cooling-system providers.
Dig even deeper, and you’ll see copper as one of the biggest “workhorses” of the AI Era.
Copper is used to:
🔵Improve the conductivity inside semiconductors.
🔵Create the cables that deliver power to data centers.
🔵And serve as the key component in the “wiring harnesses” in autonomous vehicles.
But thanks to that growing demand, we’re already bumping up against copper’s supply constraints.
Opening new mines isn’t as simple as flipping on a switch; between discovering a new copper mineral deposit and getting permits to start operations, you could be looking at stretches as long as 20 years, according to Mining.com.
Mix everything together … and the International Energy Agency expects we will only be meeting 80% of the world’s copper demand by 2030.
So to get the inside scoop on one of Chief Stock Picker Bill Patalon storylines — the “Commodity Shortfall” — there was no one better to turn to than Danny Brody.
Danny is a serial entrepreneur, the publisher of The Net Worth Club, and the CEO of ORO Capital, which is a venture capital firm that raises money for companies across an array of industries.
He’s also working on a deal to acquire a prominent copper-exploration company located in Zambia's renowned copper district.
So we’re talking about true boots-on-the-ground insights.
When Danny sat down with Bill earlier in the year, he offered four stocks for research starting points to consider (Danny talked about the Canadian tickers for some of the companies, but we have included their OTC tickers below):
Hudbay Minerals Inc. HBM 0.00%↑
Lundin Mining Corp. (LUNMF)
Capstone Copper Co. (CSCCF)
And Abitibi Metals Corp. (AMQFF).
In the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a deeper dive into these companies.
But in the meantime, if you missed Bill and Danny’s original interview, you can check it out below:
