Silver: From $40 in 2025 to $300 by 2030
The "triple threat" investment from our Forecast 2025 investing series ...
There was a lot of great insight in our 2025 Forecast series, with something for everyone — from commodities to crypto.
But one investment idea from Peter Krauth really stands out: Silver.
And it stands out as “triple threat.”
Silver is a store of value … has industrial uses with growing demand … and has price appreciation potential …
Price appreciation potential like 900% between now and 2030, according to Peter’s outlook.
And as Chief Stock Picker Bill Patalon said this week, people are starting to notice: In his decades of writing and stock picking, he’s never seen this much interest in commodities from retail investors.
You can see the full interview between Peter and Bill here for more nuggets of wisdom, but here’s a quick recap to get everyone caught up who may have missed it over the holidays.
🔵Why Silver?
Dual Role: Like gold, silver is viewed as a store of value, but it has a broader range of industrial uses.
Demand: It’s estimated around 60% of silver demand is driven by those industrial uses.
Industrial Uses: Significant in solar panels, electronics, automobiles, and medical applications.
🔵Precious Metals Vs. Cryptocurrencies
Crypto Competition: Peter doesn’t see an either/or “competition” between precious metals and crypto.
“Gold and silver have enjoyed millennia of acceptance, have an intrinsic worth, and offer great utility. Cryptocurrencies on an immutable, decentralized blockchain offer a high degree of security, convenience, and portability. It’s an ideal combination.”
Potential Future Trend: Combining the stability of precious metals with the innovation of blockchain and seeing more silver-backed crypto.
🔵Outlooks: Past and Present
Price Prediction 2024: In Peter’s first interview with SPC in March, when silver was trading for around $24, he said it would reach $30 by the end of 2024.
Price Prediction 2025: Silver to reach $35 in the first quarter and $40 by the end of the year. A potential recession could impact demand, but gold prices and economic factors will be key triggers.
$300 Silver: Expected within the next five years, due to inflation and increased investor interest.
🔵Investment Vehicles
Physical Silver: Peter prefers one-ounce coins like U.S. Silver Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs.
Bars and Junk Silver: If you go the bar route, Peter would go with the larger sizes of 10 oz, 100 oz, or 1 kilo. He’s also intrigued by “junk silver” — coins with little or no collectable value but have a measurable “melt value” due to their registered silver content.
Streamers and Miners: Recommends Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. (WPM) and Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYASF).
That’s it for this week.
Take care,
